Rabbits Stumble Against Eels in NYC

The South Sydney Rabbitohs fell to the Parramatta Eels in the NYC at ANZ Stadium in a tight encounter played in wet conditions.

Parramatta drew first blood after breaking clean through the Rabbitohs line, with James Tuitahi crashing over in the corner just two plays later. Five eighth Micthell Brasington converted for the Eels to lead six nil.

The Eels were over again just minutes later with a lost ball from the Rabbitohs in-goal gifting Parramattas Corey Makelim four points next to the sticks. Brasington made no mistake with the conversion and had another opportunity to extend the blue and golds lead just minutes later with a 35 metre penalty goal, but the attempt was forced wide.

The Rabbitohs hit back four minutes before the break through Jack Gosiewski with Cameron McInnes converting to bring the scores to 12-6 going in to the sheds.

Rabbitohs captain Cameron McInnes brought the red and greens closer to the Eels with a penalty goal just after half time. After some desperate scramble defence from the Rabbits, the Eels finally broke through with John Folau touching down. Brasington again converted from out wide to stretch Parramattas lead to ten.

Despite being down late in the match, the Rabbits werent buried. With just over a minute to go, a sharp backline movement sent Jordan Heyer in to score in the corner. Cameron McInnes failed to convert leaving the final score as 18-12.
