Newcastle Knights Vs North Sydney Bears

Newcastle No.2 Sports Ground, Sunday, June 16

Kick-off: 3pm

The North Sydney Bears will take on the Newcastle Knights in Newcastle on Sunday, in a match that will determine who will take outright second place on the VB NSW Cup ladder. Both teams currently sit on 20 competition points, with only the Cronulla Sharks ahead albeit by eight points.

Both sides come into round 14 having won their last game, but the Bears demolition of the Bulldogs in round 13 at Sharks Stadium will have sounded an ominous warning to the Knights.

Norths will be without Justin Hunt for the match, with the fullback travelling to Cairns with the Rabbitohs this week as part of an extended bench. Hunts absence will be felt by the Bears after his combination with both Dylan Farrell and four-try hero Curtis Johnston proved vital to the Bears win. Kieran Vale will step in to Hunts shoes for the match.

The Knights on the other hand will be buoyed by the addition of dual-international Timana Tahu to the side, who will no doubt cause problems for the Bears defence out wide.

Talking Point: Bears winger Curtis Johnston will be looking to back up his four-try performance this week after a dominant showing against the Bulldogs in round 13. Johnstons combination with five eighth Dylan Farrell will have to grow even more this week as the Bears take on quality opposition in the form of the Knights.

Kick-off is at 3pm Sunday at Newcastle No.2 Sports Ground.
