The first of four official Harvey Norman Women in League events begin in Darwin on Thursday 2 May, followed by Canberra 7 May, Byron Bay 9 May and finally Sydney 14 May.

The Harvey Norman Favourite Son finalists are selected by women in the game who nominate players who act as a role model to younger players and whose off-field characteristics embody the true values of the Rugby League community, said Trish Crews, NRL General Manager, Community, Culture and Diversity.

I congratulate all of the players announced as finalists today; their integrity and leadership make us proud of the game and inspires more women to become involved as a fan, parent, coach, or volunteer.

The Harvey Norman Favourite Son Award was established in 2009 and past winners include Hazem El Masri (2009), Nathan Hindmarsh (2010), Petero Civoniceva (2011) and Luke Burt (2012).

The seventh annual celebration of the Harvey Norman Women in League initiative pays tribute to over 60,000 female volunteers, officials, players, employees and administrators at the heart of the game.
