The North Sydney Bears have scored a solid 22-10 victory over the Auckland Vulcans in Auckland today (Sunday), with young South Sydney utility Dylan Walker scoring 14 of the Bears' 22 points.

Rabbitohs centre Beau Champion made his return from a shoulder injury in the game, coming off the interchange bench for North Sydney.

Both sides were locked in an arm wrestle early, with neither side looking like scoring in the opening 20 minutes.

The first points came from an error by the Vulcans, not grounding the ball in their own in-goal, with young centre Dylan Walker following through for the Bears, scoring in the right hand corner in the 21st minute of play. Walker converted his own try from the eastern touchline to take the scores to six-nil in favour of Norths.

The Aucklanders struck back almost immediately when centre Atelea Nafetalai scored in the left corner, reducing the deficit to two points after 26 minutes.

The scores stayed that way for the rest of the first half, with the Bears leading six-four at the break.

The Vulcans snatched the lead in the first five minutes of the second half when Nafetalai scored his second try, with the Bears not playing to the whistle, then allowing the Vulcans to throw the ball wide without shutting down the play. The try was converted from the western touchline by halfback Harry Siejka, giving the Vulcans a 10-6 lead.

Dylan Walker then said 'anything you can do, I can do better' getting outside his opposite number in the 49th minute play to score his second try for the afternoon in the left hand corner. Walker converted his own try from the eastern touchline to restore the two-point advantage for the Bears.

The Bears followed up those points with a 70th minute try to Justin Hunt. Halfback Luke Keary popped a beautiful offload to Beau Champion, playing at right centre, who made a break up the right flank. He drew the defence across and Hunt inside, but elected to kick over the top into the in-goal, with Hunt chasing through and touching down just before the dead ball line. Walker converted from virtually in front to extend the lead to 18-10 with less than ten minutes remaining in the match.

North Sydney would score again in the 78th minute play when Shaune Corrigan scored in the right hand corner from a Beau Champion grubber kick, taking the final scoreline to Bears 22 - Vulcans 10.

North Sydney Bears 22 (Dylan Walker 2, Justin Hunt, Shaune Corrigan tries; Dylan Walker 3 goals)

Auckland Vulcans 10 (Atelea Nafetalai 2 tries; Harry Siejka goal)
