Souths Cares was honoured to be invited to attend the funeral of one of the Rabbitohs' oldest and staunchest Members, Mrs Irene Riley, on Friday 8 March at Botany.

Irene was a passionate Rabbitohs supporter, attending all home games as a Ticketed Member last season at the evergreen (and red) age of 97.

At the funeral, her devoted son Kevin reminisced fondly of Irenes lifelong love and passion for the Rabbitohs.

Mum loved the Rabbitohs, attending all home games for years, Kevin said.

Mum even renewed her membership for this year (2013).

She was looking down on the boys playing the Roosters on Thursday night and the boys did the right thing for her.

"She would have loved it.

As per Irenes instructions, the family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Souths Cares; a true Rabbitohs supporter to the very end.

Irenes granddaughter Sarah also spoke lovingly of her favourite memories with her nana and one of the highlights of the touching service was the playing of Glory, Glory to South Sydney as Irenes coffin, draped in a Rabbitohs flag and scarf, was carried from the chapel.

Souths Cares was proud to represent the players and Club in celebrating Irenes life and saying goodbye to one of our own.

The team will continue to march on in memory of Irene in 2013.
