The North Sydney Bears are ready to do battle with last season's minor premiers, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, when they meet in round one of the NSW Cup competition this Saturday afternoon at 3pm at Belmore Sports Ground.

The Bears will field a particularly strong line up with up to 11 Rabbitohs-contracted players expected to play in the red and black.

Justin Hunt, Mitchell Buckett, Greg Waddell, Luke Keary, Thomas Burgess, Apisai Koroisau, Josh Starling and Kyle Turner were all named in the starting line up for the Bears on Tuesday afternoon, with Jason Clark, Dave Tyrrell and Bryson Goodwin available to join the squad after not being selected in the final 17 for the Rabbitohs for last night's comprehensive victory over the Sydney Roosters in the NRL season opener.

The 'Dogs have some first grade experience in their side with Tim Lafai, Joel Romelo and Trent Hodkinson named in the blue and white's backline.

Both Sides finished high up the ladder in the NSW Cup competition in 2012, with the Bulldogs finishing in first place and the Bears in second place, only to see both of them knocked out of the race for the title in the finals by eventual premiers, the Newtown Jets.

This should be a cracking start to the season, and will also give Rabbitohs supporters a look at the depth in the Club playing in the state competition.
