New Careers for Aboriginal People (NCAP)

New Careers for Aboriginal People (NCAP) is an employment mentoring initiative delivered by Souths Cares with the support of NSW State Training Services. The NCAP program addresses the substantial gap in unemployment rates between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, with Aboriginal unemployment currently three times higher than the non-Aboriginal unemployment rate.

The objectives of the NCAP program are to assist Aboriginal candidates to overcome barriers to employment, provide training and education, place candidates into employment and provide ongoing mentoring once employment has been secured.

The NCAP program is delivered by Souths Cares from two locations; Western Sydney and South Western Sydney.

Since Souths Cares commenced the NCAP program in 2015, over 500 Aboriginal candidates have successfully been placed into employment across a wide range of industries.
