Maguire's Insights: Round 11, 2017

Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire is back for another edition of Maguire's Insights for our Round 11 clash with the Melbourne Storm at nib Stadium, Perth, on the 21st of May.

The Rabbitohs will face a stern test from the Melbourne Storm who will be looking to make amends for their close 38-36 loss to the Gold Coast Titans.

Although praising his team for their effort in Round 10, Coach Maguire feels his team have areas to improve on ahead of Sunday's clash but so far is impressed with the motivation shown on the training paddock.

"It was improved and we know we need to improve again," said Maguire.

"I thought our forwards had good go forward, our spine connected really well with our edges and we've got to make sure those combinations keep growing this week. The boys are really hungry to do that."

Flying west for our annual Perth fixture, the Rabbitohs boss feels the travel will help strengthen the already strong bonds his playing group has developed.

"The times when you get to travel are special times. The connections between my players, they're all a bunch of good boys, they like spending time together," said Maguire.

"But the expectation of what we go there for; we know that. It's about going over there and performing to our best."

Tickets are selling fast for our Perth home game, a pleasing sign for Maguire who feels our substantial efforts in the western state has helped build a home game atmosphere for his troops.

"It's a home away from home," said Maguire.

"The Club has been building and doing a great job in the background to build our opportunities over in WA and we've got a big support over there.

"It's really good to get over there. We get a big crowd and their love for Rugby League is really strong."
