Maguire's Insights: Round 10, 2017

Head Coach Michael Maguire provides his insights on Friday's clash with the Wests Tigers for the NRL's Indigenous Round. The South Sydney Rabbitohs will be wearing a special Indigenous Jersey - something the Head Coach is especially excited about.

Maguire has been impressed by the attitude of his playing group after the defeat to the Sea Eagles in Round nine and believes they're ready to put in the performance he knows they're capable of this Friday.

"Last week the boys put a lot of work in," said Maguire.

"They worked really hard. They've been through a bit over the past couple of weeks but they've been in real positive mindset."

Donning a special Indigenous Jersey, which will again be worn for the Rabbitohs own Indigenous celebrations in Round 17, Maguire is proud of the Club's Indigenous connection.

"There's a great story behind the Jersey. Our Indigneous players have their own totems that all combine to the rabbit on the back," said Maguire.

"It's a great Jersey to represent (this round) but there's a special meaning behind this jersey."

With Aaron Gray named in Maguire's extended squad, the Head Coach is happy to see Gray back in competition for a spot in the starting squad but says Gray still needs to prove his fitness before Friday.

"We'll see how he goes at the back end of the week, it's been great to see Azza (Aaron Gray) actually get his name back in the squad because it's been a while," said Maguire.

"He's worked really hard in the background and it's a real credit to him but I've still got to look at him at the back end of the week."
