The South Sydney Rabbitohs are mourning the passing of former premiership-winning outside back Frank Threlfo.
Mr Threlfo played in the premiership-winning side of 1953 and also lost a Grand Final in 1952 in the two seasons he spent with the Club.
He played centre in the 1952 Grand Final loss to Western Suburbs, and won the premiership the following season as a winger when South Sydney defeated St George 31-12 in the final match of the season.
Mr Threlfo played 37 first grade games for South Sydney, scoring 23 tries for 69 points. He was the 409th first grade player to represent South Sydney since 1908, and was a regular attendee of the South Sydney past player reunions.
Mr Threlfo was a life member of the Newcastle Rugby League having played a majority of his career with the Maitland Pumpkin Pickers.
On behalf of everyone connected with the South Sydney Football Club, we offer our deepest condolences to Mr Threlfo's family and friends at this difficult time.
Mr Threlfo’s funeral will be held on Friday 12 October at Sacred Heart Church, Campbells Hills, Maitland (New England Hwy) at 11.30am for a requiem mass, then onto Lochinvar Cemetery for burial. Frank’s life will then be celebrated afterwards at Maitland City Bowling Club with his family and friends.
