Top Moments of 2012 - #1

Voted the number 1 moment in the Top Five Moments of 2012 competition was the phenomenal team try scored in the final seconds of the return leg of the Ron Coote Cup, leading to a two point victory to the Rabbitohs over arch rivals, the Roosters, away from home in round 19.

The Rabbitohs were desperate for payback after the devastating round one loss.

Things were not looking great for Souths when Mitchell Pearce finished off some scrappy play for a 22-12 lead with just five minutes remaining.
Needing two quick tries in as many minutes, the Rabbitohs hit back with a move that started on halfway and ended with McQueen slicing through and putting Merritt in under the posts.

Reynolds rushed the conversion giving the Rabbitohs a slight chance of victory, needing a try with just 50 seconds on the clock.

Dave Taylor launched himself onto the kickoff and looked like crashing the ball up but swerved left and put Chris McQueen into a gap.

McQueen sprinted away, drew two defenders and fed the ball to Nathan Merritt who linked up with Issac Luke.

Luke was run down just five metres short but flicked back an amazing ball to Reynolds who darted over for one of the most famous and emotion-charged tries in the Club's history.

Fox Sports' Warren Smith's commentary summed up the moment: "Take me now I have seen it all!"

That try will be remembered for a long time to come.
