Souths Cares Continues to Spread Christmas Cheer

One hundred and fifty kids and their families gathered in Ward Park in Surry Hills and at the Community Centre for the Life for Koori Kids’ Christmas Party on 15 December.

The kids involved had a ball having fun with games, footy, face painting, Christmas music, then a sit-down Christmas dinner, the premiere of a DVD including all the kids in activities in 2012, which was created by Nigel Traill, a volunteer for Life for Koori Kids and a professional film maker.

Santa Claus even made an appearance with presents for everyone and hampers for the families.

The evening was described by Life for Koori Kids' Ailsa Gillett as: "Community at its best with so many generous schools and organisations providing hamper food and gifts.

"For the kids, the highlight of the night was when the Bunny Buddy packs containing Rabbitohs caps and backpacks were distributed!

"We are greatly appreciative of the efforts Souths Cares have made for Life for Koori Kids over many years and the difference this has made in the kids feeling they really belong to a wide community.

"Grateful thanks to Souths Cares, and to everyone at Rabbitohs, for the immense generosity with the caps and backpacks.

"You will see them all through Redfern!"
