Garth Wood Fights for PABA Light Heavyweight Title on Home Turf

Former Rabbitohs player, Garth 'From the Hood' Wood, will face up against Samoan boxer, Togasilimai Letoa, in a bid to secure the PABA (Pan Asian Boxing Association) Light Heavyweight Title on Friday 15 February, at All Sorts, Alexandria.

In what should be a fierce match up, showcasing the PABA ranked 5th (Wood) and 6th (Letoa) boxers, Wood will be fighting on home turf at All Sorts.

Both boxers are expected to draw a large crowd with Wood being the local favourite and Letoa having a strong and loyal fan base.

Wood, who won the 2010 Contender boxing series, is the man who knocked out Anthony Mundine at Sydney’s Acer Arena in December 2010, but later lost by points during a rematch in April 2011.

“I’m a local boy,” Garth said.

“I’ve more or less reinvented myself and I’m back in the heart of where I grew up.

"I played all my junior footy with Moore Park and Waterloo, and debuted for Souths when I was 17.

"I want to give something back to my fans and my support crew, especially on my home turf.”

The fight night will also feature an impressive undercard, giving punters a full evening of entertainment.

One of the most anticipated bouts of the night is the female fight between former Fox Sports presenter Renee Gartner and Lara Rowlands.

Food, beer and wine will be available, featuring Sydney’s famous Harry’s Café De Wheels!

Date: Friday 15th February
Time: Doors open at 6pm
Location: All Sorts Boxing, Michael Dann Ave, 190 Bourke Rd, Alexandria
