Throughout each year, Souths Cares supports multiple community organisations as well as directly coordinating 3 major programs within local primary and high schools across our region.
The Teachers’ Aide program involves the entire NRL squad scheduled to make weekly visits to targeted local primary schools in an effort to assist with supporting the development of key literacy and numeracy skills as well as supporting disengaged students re-entry into mainstream schooling.
The Healthy and Active Lifestyles program delivers Life Education sessions with important health messages to pre-adolescent students from 35 schools in the region. In 2012 approximately 1600 students were took part in this program; and we are looking to increase the number of students we are able to support in this program in 2013
The School to Work Transition program, supported by the Australian Government, works to support indigenous students in Years 10 to 12 to complete their HSC and work towards a successful transition into employment or further education.
