Sam made quite an impact on the NRL in his maiden season in 2010 yet his 2011 season was curtailed by injury. Sam will be looking to re-establish himself in the Rabbitohs forward pack, and has an ambition of playing alongside brothers Luke and George in 2011. Sam can often be found on one of Sydney’s golf courses.

What do you like to do outside of football:

Love to play any kind of sports. Golf, Cricket, Tennis. I also love being outdoors, I love stand up paddle boarding in Sydney Harbour. Love relaxing down at the beach after a long weeks training. Have a passion for eating and trying new foods and good food.

Community activities:

I like to give time to small and personal charities. Souths Cares is a fantastic programme and I'm always happy to be a part of any activities.

Education:

I have a degree in Law, also a qualified doctor but still choose to play the greatest game of all with the BUNNIES. Haha

What do you remember about your debut game:

I remember the buzz from the crowd was so loud, so different to any other game I had played in before. I made my debut for Bradford vs Leeds (local derby) in front of a sell out crowd at Headingley. A day I will never forget.

What are your goals in Rugby League:

To keep improving as a player. Bring home the 21st premiership with the Bunnies. I have a long list so will keep you guessing and leave you with two of my goals....for now.

What's the best advice you've received from someone:

In my first season, Paul Johnson, an ex-Bulls player, told me never to let anyone push me around on the field or let them think they have the 'up' on me, no matter what their age or stature. You deserve to be on the field as much as anyone else. It was some solid advice to me being a young lad.

Being tackled into an icy cold puddle in my 1st ever game for Dewsbury Moor as a 5 year old and crying.

Making my debut for Great Britain.

What advice do you have for junior Rugby League players:

Keep enjoying your league. The game can give you so so much. So keep giving your all to the game and over time it will pay you back. Sport is a fantastic thing.

Which of the young players at the Rabbitohs has the most potential and why:

So many talented young guys at the club. To mention one would be James Roberts, a fantastic athlete capable of anything.

What is your favourite place to go on holiday:

Byron Bay

Where is one place in the world you want to go, but are yet to travel to?

If you were not a footballer what would you be doing:

As a kid I said I would love to be an ice cream man...but now I've 'matured' I think I'd love to work in sports with kids, maybe helping teach nutrition at a younger age to aspiring sports professionals/athletes

Who is the most inspirational player or person on your career and how have they positively affected your football? (Kortlee Marshall – Member # 2351):

I've been very lucky to have had more than one involved in my career....the most influential though I have to say are my family, my mum for all her support, my dad for guidance, keeping me focused and driven. My brothers for taking the ride with me and sharing experiences with each other along the way.

I can't narrow it down to three as I have to include Mario Fenech, Troy Slattery, George Piggins, Mark Carroll and Sean Garlick.
