Roy Launches 'Rugby League Reads'
21 Jul 2010
South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Roy Asotasi helped launch the ‘Rugby League Reads’ program at Manly Village Public School today.
Asotasi is one of NRL One Community’s Rugby League Reads ‘Reading Captains’, and was joined by NRL CEO David Gallop and Sea Eagles player David Williams in launching the program for 2010.
Roy spent the morning reading with children and talking about reading and its benefits.
“I didn’t do a lot of reading when I was a kid, but understand its value and benefits as an adult which is important for kids today to understand how reading can benefit them in everyday life,” Asotasi said.
Rugby League Reads is a series of reading initiatives and resources delivered through Rugby League’s One Community program to Primary Schools. The Rugby League Reads magazine includes a range of text types taught in Primary Schools including factual and literary texts with the focus on Rugby League as key reading content.
There are three issues of the magazine being released this year with all 16 NRL Clubs represented in each issue through a specific text and a Club Reading Captain.
