Ross and Merritt in Souths Cares Activities

Rabbitohs players Ben Ross and Nathan Merritt have been out and about with Souths Cares, helping to promote two very good causes.

On 14 November, Ross made his way to the launch of the Barnardos Sydney Metro Centre, the newest Barnardos Childrens Family Centre.

The Barnardos Sydney Metro Centre is home to the Yurungai Child and Family Services, Kin Care and Family Preservation Service, Aboriginal Early years, the Yurungai Learning Centre and South East Sydney Temporary Family Centre.

The centre was officially opened by the Hon. Linda Burney MP Minister for Community Services and Minister for Women.

Children from the Yurungai Learning Centre performed an Aboriginal dance called ‘The Little Black Duck’, which entertained everyone in attendance including the Rabbitohs’ prop-forward.

Nathan Merritt attended the launch of NSW Health’s ‘Guide to dealing with teenagers and Grog’ on 23 November.

The launch took place on the Tribal Warrior at Sydney Fish Markets in Pyrmont.

The program was officially launched by the Hon. Carmel Tebbutt MP Minster for Health, with Merritt helping to launch the program.

The program includes two guides, one aimed at teenagers to inform them of the harmful behaviours that can be associated with alcohol consumption, while the other is aimed at parents and carers informing them of appropriate steps to take when discussing matters with their teenagers.

The Rabbitohs players will be out and about with Souths Cares, so check back to the official Rabbitohs website at www.rabbitohs.com.au for more information on Souths Cares activities and the Rabbitohs' players involvement in the community.
