Rabbitohs in Market for New Major Corporate Partner
24 Oct 2007
The South Sydney Football Club is in the market for a new major partner after concluding their relationship with Firepower. The fuel additive company and the Rabbitohs will amicably end their relationship on 31 October.
“This was always a one-year agreement with two one-year options in Firepower’s favour which they declined to take up,” Rabbitohs Executive Chairman Peter Holmes à Court said.
“As they were unable to commit to the long term we decided on a mutual parting of ways. We were happy with the relationship but we felt we needed a partner who could commit to us in the long term and Firepower couldn’t provide that certainty. Firepower met every financial obligation with the Club during the 2007 season and we wish them all the best in the future.”
The Rabbitohs have enjoyed a significant rise in the demand for SSFC sponsorship and corporate hospitality over the past season. From 2006 to 2007 the number of Rabbitohs sponsors increased 55 per cent, the number of hospitality guests per game increased 62 per cent and Rabbitohs sponsors collectively generated an increase of 148 per cent in exposure value from 2006 to 2007 (per SCOMM research October 2007).
“There has been amazing corporate interest in the Club and we are looking forward to testing the market at the high end of corporate sponsorship,” Mr Holmes à Court said.
