Updated: Rabbitohs mourn passing of Don Lane

The South Sydney Football Club is mourning the loss of one of its staunchest supporters through the decades.  Football Club Life Member and Legendary television presenter Don Lane has passed away at the age of 75.

The Gold Logie winner had been suffering from a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

American-born Lane became a household name in Australia through The Don Lane Show. Lane won more than 15 Logies during his career and in 2003 he was inducted in the Australian Logies Hall of Fame.

Mr. Lane wore his passion for the Rabbitohs on his sleeve and attended the South Sydney Rabbitohs Centenary Celebrations at Redfern Town hall on the 17th of January 2008.

Lane was laid to rest at the Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium Friday 23rd of October in a private ceremony.

A public memorial will be held at South Sydney Juniors at 558a Anzac Parade in Kingsford on 11am on Thursday 5 November.

On behalf of everyone connected with the South Sydney Football Club, we offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Don Lane.
