Burgess Scores a Double in Four Nations Final
15 Nov 2009
Rabbitohs 2010 recruit Sam Burgess has scored two tries in the Four Nations Final today (Sunday Sydney time), despite his English side going down 46 points to 16 to Australia.
The Kangaroos piled on 32 points in the final 26 minutes of the game to secure a convincing win, however the final score line did not reflect the effort put in by the Englishmen.
Burgess impressed all and sundry with his two-try performance in this Four Nations Final, with both tries coming under the posts.
The first try of the match, scored in the 11th minute of play, saw Burgess step past Petero Civoniceva and Billy Slater in a 45-metre run to score under the black dot.
His second effort in the 50th minute of the Final saw Burgess charge on to a short ball ten metres out from the line, breaking an attempted tackle from Civoniceva to score.
Burgess’ performances in the inaugural Four Nations tournament has impressed many good Rugby League judges, and has Rabbitohs’ Members excited about his arrival at the Rabbitohs later this year.
It was Burgess’ defence that brought the 20-year-old a reputation in Australia when he signed with the Rabbitohs in September, but his attacking efforts in this Four Nations tournament has shown Rabbitohs Members that the English international is going to make an impact in the NRL over the next four seasons.
